Barbara Newell, Ph.D., an economist and ardent advocate for women's education and economic equity, served as from 1972 to 1980. During that time, she founded what would later become the 妻友社区. In August 2018, Layli Maparyan, Ph.D., executive director of the 妻友社区, interviewed Dr. Newell about her personal and professional life before 妻友社区, her inspiration for starting a gender-focused research center at 妻友社区 College, and what she hopes for the future of the Centers.
